After having conquered streaming and shopping, Amazon is facing up against its key rival Facebook, hoping to blow them with an entirely new messaging service.
Reportedly the messenger will be named "Anytime".
For this, Amazon is conducting a public survey, apparently collecting views from their customers on what exactly they want from a messenger, but it seems they might already be developing the service.
Potential features- As reported by AFTV news shows their new service won’t just rival Facebook’s messenger and WhatsApp services, but may even rival the social networking platform as a whole.
- Amazon isn’t just stopping at messengers, however, as their app will seemingly also rival Snapchat and Instagram, with the ability to add filters and special effects.
- Amazon’s most game changing feature, however, will be its added group capabilities, which lets users play games, order food, and listen to music together.
Other features include:
However, there is some sort of hesitation attached with Amazon's messenger and that would be how secure it is? Since other messengers have had a big focus on encryption, will Amazon pay any attention to it or will just use the user's data for increasing their sales.
Potential Challenges
The biggest challenge Amazon will face is being a completely new messaging service in a market which is already dominated by so many alternatives.
However, they have come up a solution to this problem is that it will supposedly allow users to contact their friends with just a name, no number required.
As is to be expected, Anytime by Amazon would work across both desktop and mobile devices, including both Android and iPhone. There’s no indication how far along the service is or when we could expect it to launch.
